Brooks Koepka suffered a mystery hand injury last week at the RBC Canadian Open.
What happened to Brooks Koepka?
The 35-year-old American won the US Open the last time it was held at Shinnecock Hills, back in 2018.
He left the PGA Tour to join LIV Golf in 2022 and added a fifth major title to his trophy haul at the PGA Championship in 2023.
Impact on the US Open
Koepka then left LIV Golf to return to the PGA Tour in December 2025, and he is determined to return to the levels that we all know he is capable of.
The five-time major winner has actually shown some really encouraging signs recently.
Todd Lewis' Update
Todd Lewis, a Golf Channel journalist, made an appearance on The 5 Clubs Podcast, and provided an update on Koepka’s hand issue.
*“Well, he is in town,*“* Lewis said.
*“So he did make the trip to this part of Long Island, and so he is here to try and play.*
*“From what I understand, he is getting evaluated today, and then there will be some news, likely, later this afternoon, in regards to the health of Brooks Koepka.*
## What's Next for Brooks Koepka?
Koepka is obviously desperate to play in the US Open at Shinnecock this week.
It is clearly a golf course he loves, and if he has his ‘A’ game, he’s more than capable of winning.
However, if his hand is bothering him at all, the prudent decision will be to withdraw.
By playing in the US Open with an injured hand, Brooks Koepka runs the risk of making the problem even worse.
He surely has to look at the bigger picture here.
The fact that he said he had numbness in his hands last week in Canada was hugely worrying.
Hopefully it’s an issue that can be dealt with quickly, and we see Koepka firing on all cylinders at the US Open this week.
